Ireland’s CCPC is warning parents to stop using several baby and children’s toys after safety notices flagged choking hazards, battery access risks and possible asbestos in sand-based products.

Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is warning parents to stop using a cluster of baby and children’s toys after safety notices flagged choking risks, easy battery access and possible asbestos contamination.

The recalled products were sold through a mix of online marketplaces and toy suppliers, including SHEIN and Temu listings, as well as sand-based craft kits. The advice from the CCPC is straightforward: stop using the items immediately, keep them away from children and follow the seller’s refund or disposal instructions.

What the CCPC warning covers

One of the recalled items is a wooden hand rattle sold on SHEIN by Yiwu Husi Electronic Commerce Co. Ltd. The concern is protruding parts that can create a choking risk. The Sun reported that about 71 items were affected in Ireland, and identified the batch as PMZ117001-1P with product reference sa2310117120212141.

A Music Dancing Duck sold on Temu by ToyEase Online is also being recalled. In that case, the battery compartment can be opened without tools, leaving batteries accessible to a child. The Sun reported around 46 affected items in Ireland, with package ID 5589599146 and Temu Goods ID 601099762531716.

Another SHEIN product, a three-piece bath toy sold by Shantou Zhien Electronic Commerce Co. Ltd., is included because suction cups can detach and create a choking hazard. The Sun said roughly 16 items are affected in Ireland and listed batch LELE010 and SHEIN ID sl2412208648664296.

SHEIN is also recalling a Montessori Pull String Baby Toy. The concern there is that small parts can detach, again creating a choking hazard. The Sun reported about 333 affected products in Ireland and gave the product reference sa25051472606177086.

Asbestos-related recalls

The wider CCPC roundup also includes sand-based products over asbestos concerns. PMS International’s Squishy Toys are included because the sand may contain asbestos.

KTL, formerly Kandy Toys, is recalling the Glitter and Glow Magical Sand Art Kit for the same reason. The recall notice says consumers should stop using the product immediately and follow the disposal guidance, including sealing the item in a bag and keeping it away from children.

Timeline

The latest update published on July 1, 2026, followed an earlier CCPC roundup on June 29, 2026 that covered a broader mix of toy, food and electronics recalls. The newer report pulled together the baby and children’s products now being flagged for immediate stop-use guidance.

The current warning is therefore not about one isolated defect. It is a cluster of separate safety problems spanning choking risks, battery access and possible asbestos contamination.

What parents should do

Anyone who has bought any of the listed toys or sand products should check the product details, remove them from children’s reach and contact the seller for a refund or further instructions.

The key point is that these are active recalls, not historical notices. The CCPC advice is to act now rather than wait for a child to come into contact with the item.

That is especially important where small parts, battery access or possible asbestos exposure are involved, because the risks are different but the response is the same: stop use immediately and follow the recall instructions.
