A Bureau of Meteorology strong wind warning is in effect for Sydney Enclosed Waters and nearby NSW coastal waters for May 7.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for several New South Wales coastal waters zones, including Sydney Enclosed Waters, for May 7.
The warning covers waters between Point Danger and Smoky Cape, between Broken Bay and Port Hacking, and Sydney Enclosed Waters. ABC Emergency said the alert was updated about an hour before publication and was effective from 12:00 am AEST on Wednesday.
The Bureau says marine wind warnings are issued when winds are expected to reach 26 knots or more. Those warnings can affect shipping, fishing and other marine activity, especially when conditions change quickly along the coast.
The latest warning also covers nearby marine areas including Byron Coast, Coffs Coast and Sydney Coast. The Bureau says marine warnings are updated every six hours or sooner if conditions change.
For people planning to be on or near the water, the main concern is strong winds and rougher conditions through the warned zones. The immediate next step is to watch for any upgrade, extension or cancellation in later Bureau updates.
