NSW Health has issued a measles alert for parts of Sydney after a confirmed case visited multiple public venues while unknowingly infectious between June 16 and June 20.
The warning covers exposure concerns in Potts Point, Darlinghurst and the Sydney CBD. Health officials said people who were at the listed locations should watch for symptoms and seek medical advice if they become unwell.
Exposure sites
Reported exposure sites include Potts Point Laundry and Dry Cleaning, Original Backpackers Hostel, Terry White Chemmart Kings Cross, Coles Central Kings Cross, Maryanne Hair and Beaute, St Vincent's Hospital emergency department, Savvy Hair Boutique and Kings Brew.
NSW Health said the full exposure list is available on its website and may be updated if more information becomes available.
What health officials are advising
Public health physician Dr Anthea Katelaris said people who develop symptoms and were at an exposure location should seek medical attention and call ahead before attending a clinic or emergency department.
Officials say symptoms can include fever, sore eyes, runny nose and cough, followed by a red blotchy rash. Symptoms can take up to 18 days to appear after exposure.
Health advice also urges people born after 1965 to make sure they have had two doses of measles vaccine, especially before overseas travel.
Why it matters
Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air, so exposure alerts are used to warn people who may have been in the same place as an infectious case. NSW has already logged more than 50 measles cases in 2026, according to the coverage cited.
Further cases or additional exposure sites could still be identified as contact tracing continues.
