The Texas Rangers added catching depth on June 6 by placing Danny Jansen on the 10-day injured list and signing veteran catcher Elias Díaz to a one-year major league contract.
Jansen was moved to the injured list retroactive to June 3 because of a right forearm strain, according to the club’s official transaction log and press release. MLB’s league-wide transaction feed also reflected the move.
Díaz, a veteran backstop, joins the Rangers as they cover for Jansen’s absence. The club has not said how long Jansen is expected to be out.
AP-distributed reporting confirmed the roster change before the Rangers’ game against Cleveland on June 6.
