Traffic alert: TxDOT to close stretch of I-35 on Tuesday, Wednesday nights

TxDOT will close northbound Interstate 35 at Loop 1604 in San Antonio on Tuesday and Wednesday nights for bridge deck work tied to the I-35 NEX expansion project.

The closure is scheduled for 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on June 23 and June 24. TxDOT said a detour will be available for drivers.

The overnight work is expected to affect northbound traffic near Loop 1604 on San Antonio's Northeast Side. Drivers traveling through the corridor late at night or early in the morning should expect delays and plan ahead.

This is part of TxDOT's $3 billion I-35 NEX project, which is expanding I-35 from eight lanes to 14 lanes. The project includes two elevated structures that will add two regular lanes and one carpool lane in each direction.
