Ukraine said Russia violated a Kremlin-declared Orthodox Easter truce within hours of it taking effect, as Russian border officials also accused Ukraine of breaches. The exchange of claims came on the same day as a 175-for-175 prisoner swap.
Ukraine said Russian forces violated a Kremlin-declared Orthodox Easter ceasefire within hours of it taking effect, with Kyiv reporting more than 450 breaches.
The truce was announced as a 32-hour pause in fighting beginning at 4 p.m. on April 11 and running through the end of April 12. Ukrainian officials said the violations included assault operations, shelling, kamikaze drone strikes and FPV drone strikes.
Russian border-region officials in Kursk and Belgorod also accused Ukraine of violating the ceasefire.
The competing claims left the brief truce in doubt soon after it began. The Kremlin had not issued an immediate public response in the cited reporting.
The reports came on the same day as a prisoner exchange in which Ukraine and Russia swapped 175 prisoners each.
