USDA said it reached a stipulation agreement on March 5 with JBS USA Food Company and Swift Pork Company, resolving a Packers and Stockyards Act case tied to hog scale test reporting.

The Agricultural Marketing Service disclosed the settlement on May 18. USDA said JBS waived its right to a hearing and agreed to pay a $5,000 civil penalty.

According to the agency, the issue involved required scale test reports for hog carcass weighing used in sale pricing. USDA said JBS had last submitted a scale test report on May 13, 2024, and later filed another on Jan. 30, 2026.

The case appears to be a routine enforcement action rather than a broader market intervention, but it highlights USDA's oversight of livestock weighing and pricing practices under the Packers and Stockyards Act.

USDA has not indicated any additional enforcement steps in the release.
