A 37-year-old Varsity Lakes woman is due to face Mackay Magistrates Court after police alleged she forced her way through a secure area at Mackay Airport and tried to board a Jetstar flight.

Police said the incident happened about 8:30pm on Friday, June 19, 2026. Security stopped the woman and police took her into custody.

Airport disruption

Mackay Airport said there was no immediate risk to staff or passengers, but security procedures required everyone in the secure area to be rescreened.

The airport said some passengers already seated on the aircraft also had to be rescreened.

The Jetstar service was delayed, then cancelled, and rescheduled for the next morning, Saturday, June 20, 2026. Jetstar offered accommodation to affected customers.

Charges and court

Police allege the woman entered airside areas without permission. She was also charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils for use.

The article said she was due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on June 20, 2026.

The alleged breach caused a direct operational disruption at the airport and left passengers needing to be checked again before the flight could depart.
