Weathers had been placed on the paternity list on April 22, when the Yankees recalled Jake Bird to fill the roster spot.
The latest transaction gives New York its returning arm back while it temporarily loses another bullpen piece. The club has not announced a longer-term timetable for Chivilli beyond the IL placement.
