zerohash said its Dutch subsidiary, zerohash europe B.V., has received an Electronic Money Institution license from De Nederlandsche Bank, a move the company says expands its regulated stablecoin and payment capabilities across the European Economic Area.

The announcement was first published on May 18, 2026, and later reported by The Block the same day. zerohash said the license builds on its earlier MiCAR authorization in the Netherlands and supports additional regulated financial services for European clients.

According to the company, the EMI authorization strengthens its ability to handle stablecoin-powered payment flows within a regulated framework. zerohash also said it is the first MiCAR-licensed firm to obtain an EMI license under the EBA guidance framework.

The development fits into a broader European regulatory backdrop in which crypto and payments firms may need multiple permissions depending on the products they offer and how they move funds. De Nederlandsche Bank’s guidance notes that some crypto service providers may also require a payment-service or EMI licence when dealing with electronic money token flows.

The company’s earlier Dutch MiCAR authorization was disclosed in late 2025, with zerohash materials referring to either October or November depending on the release. That date discrepancy is limited to the prior authorization timeline and does not change the new EMI announcement.

For zerohash, the new licence gives it a stronger regulated base for serving businesses that want to move stablecoins and related payments through the European market.
