ZESTAs has launched the Global Liquid Hydrogen Alliance to promote liquid hydrogen as a zero-emission fuel for shipping and coordinate industry development around standards, supply chains and deployment.
ZESTAs has launched the Global Liquid Hydrogen Alliance, a new industry platform focused on advancing liquid hydrogen as a fuel for maritime shipping.
Coverage on May 18 said the alliance was introduced at the International Maritime Organization's headquarters in London. Later reports and the alliance's public website confirmed that the group is active and that ZESTAs supports its secretariat.
The launch adds another organizing point for shipping companies and decarbonization groups exploring hydrogen as a pathway to lower emissions. The alliance says it aims to coordinate work on deployment, standards and supply-chain development.
Public reporting does not yet show which companies or institutions formally joined at launch, and it is not clear whether the IMO formally endorsed the effort or only served as the venue.
For now, the launch appears to be a narrow but notable sign of continued momentum around liquid hydrogen in maritime decarbonization.
