Zillow filed for a preliminary injunction to stop Midwest Real Estate Data from cutting off its listing feed while an antitrust case over revised display rules and Compass private listings continues.

Zillow is asking a federal court to stop Midwest Real Estate Data from cutting off its listing feed while the company’s antitrust case against MRED and Compass moves forward.

The request, filed as a motion for a preliminary injunction, comes as MRED says it plans to suspend property listing data feeds to Zillow sites unless Zillow cures the alleged violation by midnight CDT on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Zillow filed its complaint against Compass and MRED on May 12, accusing the companies of anticompetitive conduct tied to MRED’s revised rules and Zillow’s display of Compass private listings. The company says the threatened feed cutoff would force it into an impossible choice while the dispute is being litigated.

MRED has said its changes are aimed at enforcing rules and giving sellers more control over how information is displayed on third-party websites. A recent MRED blog post described revised options that can affect price history, market time, AVMs and private listings on VOW sites.

The dispute now hinges on whether the court will intervene before the deadline takes effect. Any injunction would determine whether Zillow keeps access to the Chicago-area listing feed while the broader case proceeds.
